Permanent population books (księgi ludności stałej)
Permanent population books were kept in the municipalities and towns of the Kingdom of Poland (Russian partition) from the 1830s onwards. A single entry recorded the entire family (head of household, spouse, children, relatives living with them) with dates of birth, marriage, and death. Together with residency registers they form the backbone of proceedings for the confirmation of Polish citizenship.
