Standesamt — Prussian civil registry

Prussian civil registries (Standesamt) began operating on October 1, 1874, and covered the entire population of the Prussian partition regardless of religion. The records survive in state archives in Poznań, Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, and Olsztyn, as well as in German archives. They include parents’ names, dates and places of birth, professions, and addresses.
